The whitecaps show that it was another windy afternoon at Mae Haad (or "Mae Hat"). Longtail taxis were still ready to take tourists on a wet and bumpy ride to snorkel at Koh Nang Yuan, visible in the background. A sandbar there connected three small islands off the northwest corner of Ko Tao. According to the tourist propaganda that was the only place in the world with that feature. We went there one day and saw many interesting fish in the lee of the sandbar but there were such crowds of boats and people that we didn't stay long.
